A very sunny day with no wind. Motored
through the Sandy Straits without putting a sail up. High tide was at 11.20 am
so we aimed to reach the Sheridan Flats or Boonlye Point at that time. Went
through right on high tide but interestingly the tide was against us from approx.
7nm from Boonlye Point yet the tide was still rising. It is because of the
amount of water entering the north into the Sandy Straits.
We stopped and had lunch and a swim at Deep
Creek before heading to North White Cliffs and anchoring in front of the
Kingfisher Resort. Immediately put the dinghy in the water and headed into the
resort for a very needy walk and the required beer at the Sunset bar on the
jetty. The dinghy was left high and dry so we just had to have a second beer and await the tide to rise. It was a really pleasurable day. Just love the Sandy Straits.
