We weighed anchor at 9.15am along with Nirvana’s Kitchen and
Novae and departed for Orpheus Island.
Put the lines out eager to catch some mackerel and replenish the
freezer and caught first Mackerel at 9.25am and 2nd Mackerel at around
10am.
I never expected to have caught two by midday.
Then caught another bigger Mackerel at around 2pm. So, it was
delightful to cook some fresh mackerel for lunch.
As it was low tide at 2.30 pm we were passing Falcon Island so
stopped off at Falcon Island to get some Oysters. Leon and Nirvana also came
ashore and we collected at least 3 doz.
Arrived at Hazzard Bay at 4.30 pm just in time for sunset drinks
at Yanks Jetty.
A quick call around on the radio and the group decided to have
dinner and drinks on shore.
We loaded the dinghy’s and took everything around the corner and
had dinner on Yanks Jetty. Debbie and Peter Crooks cooked fresh mornay Morton
Bay Bugs (bought from a trawler in Horseshoe Bay) for entrée and Leon and
Nirvana pooled their oysters with ours so we had 3 doz Oysters to share.
I cooked us all a fresh salt and pepper mackerel and we followed
that up with a chocolate Tim Tam.
A fantastic 4 course meal and great conversation and laughter
had by all.
The next day we collected coconuts and did some fishing. Not
much success on the fishing except for a few Stripey Perch.
Ngak Ngak and Isabella sailed from Horseshoe Bay and joined us
for another meal on the Jetty.
It was a very enjoyable stay at one of our favourite anchorages.
