31st May 2017    Sandy Cape to Bundaberg   46nm

We knew that the forecast predicted a 15 to 20 knot southerly wind to arrive predawn and right on que it did. Woke me up at about 5am but we were protected where we were anchored so remained in bed until dawn.

Sunrise over Sandy Cape

The forecast was for more strong winds so we needed to find shelter for a few days.

We had a very fast reach across to Bundaberg. Most of the time we were averaging 8-9 knots.

Trolling the fishing lines so fast meant a bit of lively action. Hooked 5 fish and landed only 3 small mac tuna. Only good for bait so kept one a let the others go. Lost 2 very good size fish. Unfortunately one took the lure and all.

We had a fast reach to Bundaberg.

We got into Bundaberg at 2.30pm.
