15th Oct Urangun to Deep Creek in the Great Sandy Straits 24nm

At last we were able to have a sleep in!!!  No rushing, no need to get going anywhere, just a lazy morning breakfast at the cafe and then a casual departure when it suited us. We departed the marina before lunch and headed through the Great Sandy Straits to the anchorage we had chosen for the night. Deep Creek is on the western side of Fraser Island and a well protected anchorage in easterly winds which is what we have today.

It took 4 hours to travel the 24nm in flat calm conditions which is a lot better than we expected. We did not get any of the 20 plus knots from the SE that was forecast. We arrived after lunch and had an afternoon rest once the anchor was down and we were settled.
At last we had a chance to catch up on all the little things like emails, phone calls and planning for the rest of the trip. The sunsets here are incredible and this one did not disappoint
