We awoke to a beautiful morning. Gentle wind and sunny sky. The
tide was on its way out so conditions were perfect for a snorkel. After a cup
of tea and before breakfast had a half swim over the reef and took some
pictures. Water was a bit cool and it certainly brought the body temperature
down.
A cup of coffee and sitting in the sun eating breakfast got me
warmed up.
Tamara had a swim.
A nice way to start the day.
At 10.30 we left for Cid Harbour. We needed some exercise and it
was time to climb to the top of Mount Whitsunday again. Arrived there at 2.00pm
and anchored and into the dinghy and off to Sawmill beach where the walk
started. We were a bit late as they say allow 4 hours for the return journey.
It is 2.5km’s each way.
Very Spectacular View
We managed to make it to the top in 1 hour which
allowed us some time to have a mandarin and take some pictures and then start
the trek down. It sure is easier coming down than going up. Back on the beach
by 4.45pm our legs were like jelly. It was a good work out which was needed.
Back to Billabong for a swim and we motored around to May’s Bay
to catch up with our friends on TomBoy for sunset drinks.
It was an active day and we were very tired after a spicy Korean
Fish soup and a couple of glasses of red.
May’s Bay is a peaceful anchorage in a south-east wind as long
as the swell is not easterly or north-easterly. We slept well apart from a few
rolls in the night when the wind put us side on to the very slight easterly
swell coming down the passage with the in-coming tide.
